A note regarding the Delta Township Nonmotorized Transportation Plan

December 1, 2003

As you may be aware, Delta Township is in the process of proposing a nonmotorized transportation plan to promote a more walkable community. This long-term plan may include a walkway/path along Carrier Creek.

Eaton County Drain Commissioner Brady Harrington would like to remind local residents that this is a project of Delta Charter Township, independent of the Carrier Creek Stormwater Management and Restoration project.

Please note, easements held by the Carrier Creek drainage district would not allow use for purposes of constructing a walking path. Any easements required for Delta Township's nonmotorized plan would have to be obtained separately from each landowner whose property would be included in the walking path.

Also note, special assessments to the drainage district for the Carrier Creek Stormwater Management and Restoration Project do not include the township's nonmotorized plan. (Costs and funding have yet to be determined by the township, and are separate from costs and funding associated with the drain project.)
