Eaton County Drain Commissioner Brady Harrington Wins Prestigious Award for Work on Carrier Creek

January 15, 2004

Eaton County Drain Commissioner Brady Harrington recently won an innovation and excellence award from the Michigan Association of County Drain Commissioners (MACDC) for work on the Carrier Creek Stormwater Management and Restoration Project. This award is given each year to recognize members of the MACDC who incorporate creative, innovative, and effective techniques into the design and construction of drain projects in the state of Michigan.

To win an award, the project submitted must show excellence in several of the following areas: public involvement and education; environmental and water quality benefits; use of new materials and/or technologies; innovation; complexity; and cost effectiveness.

“This award is a testament to the quality of the team we’ve assembled for this project, and the continuing input and involvement we’ve received from the public,” Harrington said. “Both have contributed to a truly exceptional, innovative, and unique project that not only meets stormwater management needs in the growing Delta Township region, but also protects homeowners and environmental quality in the Carrier Creek watershed.”

Harrington specifically thanked project partners Fitzgerald Henne & Associates, Spicer Group, Wetland & Coastal Resources, Jackson Dirt Works, CL Trucking, and The Friends of Carrier Creek Association for their work on the project.

The award will be presented to Harrington at the Annual MACDC Winter Conference in February, in Traverse City.
